Licensed Professional Counselor #62685

Hello! I was born and raised in Mexico where I was very fortunate to enjoy a tropical environment surrounded by music, flowers, bright colors, and delicious food. I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso where my studies led to formal approaches in the field of Psychotherapy. I have lived in San Antonio for a number of years now, where I met my husband. Together, we are raising two bi-cultural Christian young ladies. After I became a Licensed Professional Counselor, I specialized in the Cognitive Behavioral Approach. As a professional therapist, I soon witnessed the importance of choosing the particular internal voices that we listen to. I have gained insight into many aspects of human emotion and behavior using this approach which I enjoy sharing with my clients. You will learn how our thoughts (often referred to as self-talk) influence our emotions and, ultimately, our actions we choose. I want to hear your story! I would like to learn what has worked for you and what has not. I would like to explore with you new ways of coping with stress, trauma, addiction, behaviors, or relationships. I can help provide the guidance and support to help you or a loved one get through these struggles. More importantly – grow into the person you always wanted to be!

Approach & Values

I use the Cognitive-behavioral (CBT) therapy approach, among other proven methods. CBT stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on proven clinical results in that thoughts, rather than people or events, cause our negative feelings. I will help assist you in identifying, testing the reality of, and correcting dysfunctional beliefs underlying your thinking. I can also help you to modify those thoughts and the behaviors that flow from them. CBT is a structured collaboration between therapist and client. CBT has been clinically proven to help clients in a relatively short amount of time with a wide range of disorders, including but not limited to depression and anxiety. Ask me more about this approach, I would love to explain this and other methods of therapy!

I am a Christian. I believe that Salvation is the gift of God our Creator brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was willingly shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. If you share this faith and believe that the Scriptures are inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed and therefore, are the final authority for faith and life – I can offer you faith-based counseling built upon His foundation.
